Leah Mims Rising Stars Presentation

Good evening! My name is Leah Mims. I am a shining star! After tonight, my rising as a leader will shine! I would like to start this presentation with a prayer, so bow your head and close your eyes. Dear Lord, I thank you for allowing me to become the leader that you wanted me to be. Lord, I thank you for giving Mrs. Romano the time, patience, and right mind to go out into the community and show her leadership. Lord, I also ask you to bless all the head advisors at CRUCIAL because without their okay, there wouldn’t be a program. “Amen.”

I would like to start off telling you what I have learned from Rising Stars...I’ve learned the concept of goal-setting, self-discipline,  optimistic values, and getting to know myself and who I am. I really didn’t know who I was at the beginning of the program, but now I know what Leah really means...L-lovable, E-enhancer, A-anointed, H-humble.

One goal that I have accomplished as a result of the goal-setting process was my positive attitude! The possible obstacles that got in my way were negative influences, a negative environment, and giving in. My actions that helped me accomplish this goal was not being around people who get me down, and staying where positivity is in action!

I think schools should consider having Rising Stars as an approach to achieve increased academic performance because with me personally, school isn’t on my #1 best priority list! Rising Stars caught my attention on the first day I went! This program can take place at church during youth group time and many other places.

I would recommend this program to other teens because being a leader means I have to take initiative and make my leadership contagious. Life is filled with choices and Rising Stars has helped me to cultivate my decision-making skills! Career-wise, I am heading toward being a teacher and a cosmetologist.

Leadership and success are related in many ways...When you lead, you guide, conduct, escort, or direct. Success is the achievement of something desired or attempted. My vocabulary has increased highly now that I am finished with Rising Stars! Having leadership skills affects my performance in school, at home, and with peers.

The benefits of participating in Rising Stars Leadership Development program are that it helped me to expand my thoughts and it also helped me think outside of the box! For my final sayings, I thank my parents, I thank everyone, and I especially thank Mrs. Romano!

                                                                                                          Thank you!
