Maria Monett’s Rising Stars Presentation

Hi! My name is Maria Monett and I am a Rising Star! This program has taught me a lot...It has taught me how to be confident and love myself for who I am...I am a stronger and smarter person now and I am setting goals for myself!

I’ve started to accomplish one of my goals and that is to start to say “No” to people sometimes so they do not take advantage of me...and so far, no one has taken advantage of me...

I really think that every school should have this program because this program has made me a very strong person. It taught me how to deal with my problems...When I told my Principal about this program, she asked to speak with Mrs. Romano! Let’s hope this program will rise and have its beginnings here and throughout other schools!...Especially in schools which have behavioral problem kids and teach them to become “Enhancers”...

My favorite chapter was Chapter14 because it taught me about continuing my leadership growth and about evaluating my self image, goal planning, and especially about my self confidence...I’ve also learned a lot of words and their meanings...For example, “enhancer”   means a leader who adds value or improves and that’s what me and the girls are! We are leaders for the future!

Leadership skills help you in school by having goals to improve your grades, goals to improve your self-esteem, and to believe in yourself! Because of the goal-setting process, my long-term goal is to become a lawyer...Also, because of this program, I’ve learned how to make good choices. I know when to say “Yes” and when to say  “No”...

My favorite part of the program was learning about leadership and learning about attitudes, goal-setting for success, and answering questions to figure out the type of person I am...how to motivate myself..., how I can help others..., how to make good decisions...,also meeting such great girls even though I haven’t been here a lot...but....when I was here and feeling down, these girls hugged me and made me feel comfortable...They made me feel that I could really trust them...

I also got to meet the most nicest person I have ever met, Mrs. Romano. Mrs. Romano is different. She is a leader and she fights for what’s right and she never gives up. She never gave up on me when I was going through my problems...It was like she was there the whole way and I love her for that...Thank you Mrs. Romano!!!...
